Karter and John’s date night session at 1 C Barn in Black Forest Colorado.

A few months ago, 1 C barn, Minnie’s Macarons, Kat Sooner, and I put together a fantastic giveaway for one lucky couple! The giveaway included a two night stay at the beautiful 1 C Barn wedding venue in Black Forest, Colorado, a dozen macarons from Minnie’s Macarons, and hair and makeup by Kat Sooner for a one hour photo session with me! Karter and John were the lucky winners.

After hopping on a video chat with Karter, I was so excited to meet her in person. She had an amazing energy and personality about her, and I knew from the start it was going to be a fun session. She and John were down for anything, so my creative mind started to wander. 

Session day was here! I started by capturing them around the grounds at 1 C Barn. We danced and ran around in the grassy fields. Then we went inside and did a little bit of baking and played a board game! We stepped back outside for a moment and shotgunned a beer (by “we,” I mean Karter and John). Honestly, the day unfolded as though we had been friends for years.  It was so fun! It was like a little date night for them and I was there as the best third wheel ever, freezing every detail of those moments in time. 

After we cleaned up, they hopped into the hot tub on the back patio. I was able to capture a little bit of fun and some cuddles. This wrapped up our session. Since then, I have stayed in close connect with Karter because - as it turns out - she is also an event planner! I have now done two styled shoots with her and I have another one coming up in a few weeks. 

I’m so grateful our paths have crossed and I can’t wait to capture a session with Karter and John again! This session was so low key and fun.
